About Sensing Mind Institute
Sensing Mind Institute is a school offering continuing professional development for psychotherapists.
At Sensing Mind Institute, we believe that combining therapeutic approaches, philosophical tradition and modern cognitive psychology offers a powerful foundation for fostering human development and flourishing.
SMI is not associated with any particular tradition. Instead, we encourage dialogue between therapeutic modalities, philosophical traditions and modern cognitive science.
SMI's approach to personal growth emphasises kindness, precision and light-heartedness, qualities that make deep learning and transformation both powerful and accessible.
What the students say about SMI
Claus Springborg, PhD
I’m the founder of the Sensing Mind Institute, where I help therapists and seekers integrate spiritual depth with scientific clarity and rigour.
Over the past two decades, I’ve studied with renowned teachers like Claudio Naranjo, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, and Faisal Muqaddam, and earned a PhD from Cranfield School of Management for research on how cognitive science can deepen personal growth.
I’ve taught at universities, written academic articles and books (The 5 Knots – A Guide to Being-Centred Therapy, Transforming Self-Criticism), and worked with hundreds of therapists and seekers to deepen their presence, clarity, and impact. I also serve as an examiner for final exams at psychotherapy schools, recommended by the Danish Psychotherapists Association.
My approach combines compassion, precision, and humour — and is always grounded in what works.
